Featherbrained Farm is a small family farm in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. We raise rare heritage turkeys, waterfowl, gamebirds, guineas, exhibition bantams and large fowl chickens. Most of our birds are rare breeds or exhibition birds (except gamebirds and guineafowl). We are NPIP members, with all of our birds being tested annually for pullorum and fowl typhoid, as well as our turkeys being tested for mycoplasmas. Our birds are fed rations specially formulated for their species. We cull heavily and breed only our best birds, for quality rather than quantity.
We no longer ship birds, due to shipping difficulties in our area. We do ship hatching eggs, and chicks are available through a local feedstore. We do not allow farm tours, for biosecurity reasons, and we do not allow eggs to be picked up at our location--all eggs are shipping via priority mail. We strive to follow all state and federal regulations and provide the proper paperwork when shipping.
We have been shipping eggs for about 8 years now, and you can check our feedback on www.eggbid.com under user name Birdlady. We have had good success with eggs shipped all over the country, and have pretty much perfected our packing methods to ensure safe arrival, with very rare occurrences of breakage. Our new shipping foam, which we had specially manufactured to our specifications, has been 100% secure in shipping larger eggs, such as turkey and duck. While it costs considerably more (about $9/set), we feel the end results make it worth the cost.
Our eggs are always fertility checked regularly, and are guaranteed to be clean and fresh. We do not ship eggs older than 3 days, dirty eggs, or eggs from birds we are not hatching ourselves. We cannot guarantee our eggs, due to the many factors involved in shipping and incubation, but we strive to get them to you in the best condition possible. While our eggs may cost more than some, we do take extra care and have extra costs associated with testing, proper feed, and packaging that many don't bother with, as well as shipping extra eggs. We only ship small amounts of eggs for a limited time, rather than trying to make a quick buck by selling eggs that are low in fertility or old. Try our eggs and see the difference.
